A landmark both old and new, Q1 is a destination, and a starting point

Q1 is located just 1 km from Yamagata Station, so if you’re a first-time visitor to Yamagata city, you may find this the perfect distance to stroll while soaking in the atmosphere of the city. As you leave Yamagata Station, you’ll catch a glimpse of the many bars and clubs in front of the station, and along its side streets. You may pick up on a cultural vibe when you turn left onto Suzuran Street, which comes alive when its restaurants open at night. Next, you’ll pass through the Tokamachi–Honmachi area, which is dotted with traditional storehouses, historical buildings and small shops…and then you’ll find yourself in front of Q1, a Yamagata city landmark both old and new. When you step inside this 100-year-old building, you’ll feel echoes of the city’s history, but you’ll also find the latest news and information about Yamagata city’s culture, industry, food and much more. Help yourself to some pamphlets and flyers, and take a moment to chat with the shopkeepers. After leaving Q1, you may continue onwards to the Nanukamachi-Hatagomachi area, where you can explore Gotenzeki, Cinema Street, and the historic Bunshokan building.
